“NO CHILD SHOULD GO TO BED HUNGRY”

REGISTERED IN DECEMBER, 2020;

THE FEEDING SPOON ZAMBIA WHICH IS A FULLY REGISTERED NON-GOVERNMENTAL AND FAITH BASED ORGANIZATION WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE CONFERENCE OF SEVENTH DAY BAPTIST CHURCHES IN ZAMBIA LEADERSHIP HAS EMERGED WITH AN INITIATIVE TO START FEEDING THE CHILDREN WITH ATLEAST A PROPER MEAL ONCE A WEEK IN STRIVING TO ALLEVIATE THE ESCALATING POVERTY LEVELS ESPECIALLY AMONG THE CHILDREN.

THE FEEDING SPOON WAS ALSO BORN AS A SUPPORTIVE WING TO THE CONFERENCE OF SEVENTH DAY BAPTIST CHURCH MINISTRY IN ZAMBIA. SUCH SUPPORT MAY INCLUDE FEEDING PROGRAMS, CHILDREN'S EDUCATION SUPPORT, PROVISION OF DECENT SHELTERS AND SUSTAINABLE PROJECTS SUPPORT.

THE FEEDING SPOON ZAMBIA WILL HAVE ITS ROOTS TRACED FROM A SOUTH AFRICAN BASED FRIEND AN EVANGELIST BY NAME OF DAN BAHADUR GHIRDRI WITH HIS WIFE JULIE PILLAY ACCOMPANIED BY MALCOLM GOVENDER WHO VISITED PASTOR QUISTIN CHALWE IN ZAMBIA SOME 8 YEARS AGO. DURING THE VISIT DAN WAS TAKEN TO ONE OF THE AREAS IN THE OUTSKIRTS OF KITWE AND WHEN HE SAW HOW THE CHILDREN WERE SUFFERING IN THAT AREA AND HE SAID; “MY VISION IS TO SEE NO CHILD GOING TO BED HUNGRY IN THE NEAR FUTURE”. EARLY 2020, HE HAD A DREAM OF FEEDING SO MANY PEOPLE WITH SPOONS, HENCE THE NAME FEEDING SPOON.

THE FEEDING SPOON ZAMBIA HAS BEEN REGISTERED WITH THE MINISTRY OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND SOCIAL WELFARE AND ESTABLISHED WITH INTENT TO SUPPORT THE SEVENTH DAY BAPTIST CHURCH MINISTRY IN ZAMBIA AND ALL THE NEEDY IN SOCIETIES IN LOOKING AFTER THE WELFARE OF THE ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN, YOUTHS, WIDOWS ANDTHE AGED INCLUSIVELY REGARDLESS OF THEIR RELIGION OR COLOR.

THE FEEDING SPOON ZAMBIA HAS A BOARD IN PLACE COMPRISING OF 10 (TEN) MEMBERS.

DAN GHIRDRI (A MAN OF VISION FOR AFRICA) EXPERIENCING RURAL AREA TYPE OF LIFE AND MINISTERING TO THE CHILDREN AND YOUTHS THERE. OUR TARGET AREAS/GROUPS ARE THE CHURCHES, SCHOOLS, AND CHIEFDOMS.

COPPERBELT: KITWE, MUFULIRA, NDOLA, KALULUSHI, CHINGOLA, LUANSHYA, LUFWANYAMA

NORTHWESTERN: SOLWEZI AND KALUMBILA

LUSAKA: MUTENDERE AND MUNGULE CHIEFDOM 

MUCHINGA: CHAMA, CHINSALI & SAMFYA


THE FEEDING SPOON ZAMBIA DOES NOT INTEND TO INSTITUTIONALIZE OR KEEP ORPHANS IN CHILDREN'S CARE FACILITIES, AS SUCH FACILITIES ARE BEING GENERALLY DISCOURAGED DUE TO RISING CASES OF CHILD ABUSE FOR MANY CHILDREN WHO ARE PUT UNDER SUCH ORPHANAGE FACILITIES.


THE FEEDING SPOON ZAMBIA INTENDS TO SUPPORT THE ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN AND THE AGED WITH THEIR FOSTER FAMILIES. THE FSZ SHALL HOWEVER ENDEAVOR TO PROMOTE CHILD-SOCIETY INTEGRATION PROGRAM, WHERE DISPLACED ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN SHALL RECEIVE COUNSELLING AND ENCOURAGEMENT OF BEING INTEGRATED BACK INTO SOCIETIES THEY COME FROM. THE PASTORS ARE EXPECTED TO PLAY A KEY ROLE IN OFFERING THE MUCH-NEEDED COUNSELLING SUPPORT TO ENSURE THAT THE REINTEGRATION PROGRAM IS CARRIED OUT MORE EFFECTIVELY IN EVERY COMMUNITY OF OUR OPERATIONS.    

FURTHERMORE, THE DEVELOPMENT AND ESTABLISHMENT OF THE SKILLS TRAINING CENTER FOR UNEMPLOYED YOUTHS IN MOST CHURCHES AND MANY THOSE IN COMMUNITIES IS PART OF OUR VISION. WE BELIEVE THAT SEVERAL UNEMPLOYED AND UNEDUCATED YOUTHS IN OUR COMMUNITIES CAN AT LEAST HAVE ACCESS TO VARIOUS LIFE COPYING SKILLS SUCH AS WOODWORK, SEWING, BRICKLAYING, FABRICATIONS, AGRICULTURE, AND MANY MORE FOR THEIR SURVIVAL TAKING AGRICULTURE AS A PRIORITY CONSIDERING THE VAST NATURAL RESOURCES ZAMBIA IS BLESSED WITH.

TO EFFECTIVELY IMPLEMENT OUR PROGRAMS AND SUSTAINABLE PROJECTS WE SHALL CONTINUE WORKING WITH VARIOUS STAKEHOLDERS SUCH AS CHURCHES, CHIEFDOMS, GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP.

Programs Include The Following:

  • FEEDING OF CHILDREN AND THE ELDERLY WITH GOOD MEAL AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK.
  • BASIC TRAINING OF COMMUNITIES ON NUTRITION AND HEALTH.
  • WHILE THESE TARGET GROUPS ARE BEING FED, THE TRAININGS AND SENSITIZATION PROGRAMS WILL BE CONDUCTED ON COVID-19 WITH ALL 5 GOLDEN RULES.
  • SENSITIZATION OF COMMUNITIES ON DANGERS OF PROSTATE AND CERVICAL CANCERS TRAINING.
  • DISTRIBUTION OF TRAINING MATERIALS, FLYERS, POSTERS, BILLBOARDS ETC.
  • PROVISION OF CLEAN DRINKING WATER TO THE COMMUNITIES BY SINKING WELLS.
  • CHILDREN’S EDUCATION SUPPORT.
  • EMPOWERING THE YOUTH WITH VARIOUS LIFE COPYING SKILLS AND PROVIDE THEM WITH TOOLS AT THE END OF TRAINING.
  • INCULCATE GOOD MORALS IN THE CHILDREN TO HELP SAVE THE CURRENT GENERATION AGAINST MORAL DECAY IN THE COMMUNITIES.
  • PROVISION OF SMALL DECENT SHELTERS TO THE AGED IN THE COMMUNITIES.
